- we would like to use a 68332 to build a controller system, but have never
- dealt with the chip before. Our aim is to use a GreenSpring IP-68332
- (industry pack) and stack it on our existing MVME162 board.
-
- I'd like to hear the group's opinion about the development tools to use.
- Are there any outstanding products or any to avoid? Our options are
- developing the code
- i) on a PC and download it to the '332 or
- ii) on a HP9000-712 and download it to the IP module via MVME162.
-
- Finally, has anyone made positive/negative experiences when working with
- the 68332 or the GreenSpring IP-68332????
-
- Any comments welcome and highly appreciated, regards

- We are using Mikrap's 68332 board (Switzerland), compile with Microtec
- C/C++ on a HP9000/715-100 and run Lauterbach Datentechnik Emulator's
- (and BDM's soon). We are satisfied with the Compiler. The new version
- has many advantages to minimize code and symbolic information (removes
- redundant template code and redundant constants from include
- files). I'd really like to have this one on my SCO box (but SCO is too
- comercial and Cobolized, but maybe this changes with the cooperation
- started with HP on the new common kernel for the P7 :).
-
- It makes sense to go UNIX anyway :) but especially if you have
- more than one developer. In Germany one UNXI license of C++ is around
- 13500.- and one DOS license is around 6500.- . We currently use only
- two licenses for 5 engineers, and that seems to be enough.
-
- Lauterbach's ICE is top end, don't know if you need it, because you
- have IP to download the code. Take care if you plan to use XRAY, it
- eats up all available CPU when your app is running (we use serial
- connections).
-
- The 68332 has many advantages. The best features for embedded systems
- are the SIm and here esp. the address decoding unit. Saves a lot of
- external black bugs.
